So you know, Traffic Tickets, whether issued by a Police Officer or a Machine are essentially Traffic Tickets of the same nature. There is no real difference except that in most cases, ones issued by a Police Officer have demerits or points that go against your driving record and can significantly increase your Insurance Rates. 

Most of what I am going to present to you will deal with Photo Radar. There is very limited information out there on this topic and I feel it necessary to inform you of the so called "System" so to speak. The price is right too! Keep in mind that my strategies are designed to work with most Traffic Tickets and not just Photo Radar or Red Light Cameras. By the way, you can challenge a Red Light Camera Ticket in court.

Not much has changed since I first authored this work, except the Fines have changed a little where I live. Political processes take an exceptionally long time to change, so don't worry, the information IS RELEVANT.

Also note that I am not intentionally interested in aggravating any level of the Political or Judicial system. My motivations are purely and simply designed to enlighten you, the Tax Payer of some of your legal rights as well as present some varying Free or Fee based options designed to assist you should you be charged with a Traffic Offence. I may be a little harsh and a bit outspoken with some of my comments towards the "System" so to speak. Please just remember one thing, or rather one clear and underlying fact. Safety. I am mainly concerned with "Safety". Not creating anarchy amongst mankind. Safety.

If by reading this website I have helped save one life by drawing attention to Traffic Safety, then I feel I have achieved something. Safety!

I want to educate you about some of the Traffic Laws and Safety issues so you are consientiously aware of these laws and can avoid getting yourself charged. It is after all about Safety is it not? This IS what the authorities keep telling us, right? Safety, Safety, Safety. OK, I'm going to help everyone. Fault me for doing that if you will.

Bottum line, if you really want to avoid any of this, just Slow Down. You'll get to where you're going soon enough. Relax a little. Pay attention to the Speed Limits and Obey them.

For those who live in Alberta make note of this:

On July 1/ 2006 the Alberta Provincial Government has recruited several "Sheriffs" to patrol Albertas highways. These Sheriffs are empowered with pretty much the same authority as the Police, however, their main goals are to Catch Speeders. I can't say this enough. Slow Down. Pay Attention. Drive the Speed Limit. Save Lives. This is the Best Advice I can give you.

The Governments are trying to pass legislation that will enable them to "Double Dip" your pocketbook. If you go through a Red Light Camera they are trying to Fine you 2 times. Once for the Red Light, and a second Fine for Speeding. From my experiences, 99% of the people Speed Up to clear the Intersection when the Traffic Light turns Yellow. It's Human Nature to do this and if this passes you are going to have to Pay Twice. Of course you could always "Slam" on your Brakes and get rear ended by the driver in behind you. These Red Light Cameras will be set up just like manned units. Speed through, and you get fined.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
On January 7/08 (Ukrainian Christmas) our wonderful Province (Alberta) that is currently being run by a Premier who is of Ukrainian decent, decided to give YOU a Christmas Present. The Legislation mentioned above was passed this Joyous Day! Personally, I would have rather just received a Lump of Coal.

Now that this Law has passed Alberta Provincial Legislation, I will almost 100% Guarantee that every Municipality that uses Photo Enforement Technology will be watching and soon after implemeting the same rules and laws. They always follow suit from what I have seen in the 12 years I have been following Photo Radar. That's right, I have been following and researching this for 12 years so I do in fact know what I am talking about. No, I am not a Lawyer or Traffic Court Agent, but I "KNOW THE SYSTEM" and now you will too.

Another thing that really annoys me are the disparities here in Alberta amongst Government Handouts. We don't need a Cash Grabbing Cow like Photo Radar and EVERYONE knows it is a Cash Grabbing Cow. The Police Need more funding to combat crime. No question of that.

So answer me this question?

Why can the Government come up with 2 BILLION Dollars for the School Boards Pension Fund, yet they can't get rid of Photo Radar, a Cash Grab, and give the Police More Funding? This makes No Logical Sense. It's like 25 Million a year for 5 years. The School Board Pension Fund is getting 10 Times That Amount!

The Police in this Province are being Blamed, Underfunded, and Forced to use Unjust Tactics to Fund Themselves. This Is WRONG!

HOW IT WORKS
A tripod or vehicular mounted device at the side of the road uses radar to measure the speed of either oncoming or departing traffic. Connected to the device is a regular personal computer. When a velocity reading exceeds an internal setting, a camera snaps a photograph which documents the following Information:

Crime in progress. License plate number. The speed limit. Speed of car. Date. Time. Codes for both location, direction of travel and Commissioner or Police Officer operating the equipment. Red Light Cameras operate in a similar manner, just no Commisioner or Police operator.

In Alberta you will always be photographed from behind as the Province no longer requires you to have a license plate on the front of your vehicle. Many Provinces and States will nab you from both directions, depending upon the license plate laws for your area.

If you have received a ticket, chances are you are quite furious. You have several options as to what you can now do. My advice to you at this point is to KEEP READING.

MY THOUGHTS AND PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
Let me start off by saying that I do not in any way shape or form condone speeding. If the truth must be known, awhile ago, a speeder that was not paying attention rear ended my nice new vehicle causing $8 Grand In Damage. So if you want to avoid these tickets, slow down and follow the posted speed limits. Period.

I also hold no resentment towards the Police Officers who have been instructed by their Superiors to Enforce and issue Photo Radar,  Red Light Camera or Conventionally Written Traffic Tickets. They are just doing their job. If blame is to be laid anywhere, it should be directed at the Politicians who Legislated these types of Enforcement Initiatives into Law in the first place.

The Police deserve the respect that goes with Badge that they wear. I have yet to find a Police Officer that joined up to issue speeding tickets. Most want to fight crime but are requested by their Superiors to write tickets as part of the job. Traffic Safety is an important part of everyday life. No question. However, Traffic Safety to the point of harassment for monetary gain is not what anyone, including many Police Officers want to be associated with. Photo Radar has seriously "Tarnished" many Police Departments reputations. This is a Fact!

This is also not just my own personal opinion either, so trust me when I say that it is backed up with solid testimony. Yes, I do know Police Officers. Several of them if you must know the honest truth. In fact, I used to work with a gentleman who is now a City Police Officer, and I have 2 Family Members, (one who was a Senior RCMP Officer) that encouraged me to write this. They are sick of it as well, yet they are equally as upset at the amount of people who Speed. Please, Slow Down and Obey the Law!

Now let’s get into it a little further. I have written some common sense practices that I have used successfully to either acquit myself of the charge, or reduce the amount I have had to pay. These practices have worked, for me, 100% of the time. It’s all about working the “System” as you shall read going forward into this Website. At the very least, you will be completely educated as to what happens or can happen if you want to step out of the “box” and stand up for your rights.

It blows me away at how I will see people waste an entire day standing inline because their Unemployment Check is $10 bucks short, yet they won’t take a couple of hours out of that very same day to potentially save anywhere from $75 to $287 or more to easily challenge a Traffic Ticket. Unreal when you think about it. That being said, I want to talk mainly about Photo Radar, but remember, Traffic Tickets are Traffic Tickets. Same stuff, just a different pile. These strategies can be applied for almost any type of Traffic Violation except the obvious DUI ones etc. Keep that in mind when reading through this Website.

PROFESSIONAL COMPANIES
One of the things that inspired me to research write this information and post it (and forgive me for finding this funny) is that there are Companies out there that are earning BIG MONEY by Fighting Traffic Tickets. 

They are everywhere. At last count, I think that Edmonton has a Minimum of Five. Do you have any idea what it costs to do the kinds of Advertising they do? I can tell you it is not cheap to Advertise.

Most are run by Ex Police Officers and Crown Prosecutors.

So why are they doing it? Well, it's simple. MONEY. A Traffic Cop will earn around $50 Grand a year. A Crown Prosecutor will earn around $72 Grand a year. You do the math. They EARN MORE MONEY bucking the very same "System" they helped create. 

Don't get me wrong, but this is what I find to be totally hypocritical. Here these guys earned a living by nailing you with Traffic Tickets, and now they want to help get you off the charge. That being said, while they were Police Officers or Prosecutors, they were just doing their job like everyone else. 

Forgive me, but isn't it absolutely amazing the way the World works these days? These companies are run Legitimate Businessmen, and they provide a Real Quality Service. I, myself personally just find it kind of funny, that's all. Nothing, absolutely nothing against the use of any Professional to get the job done right.

I also know that there is a need for these types of services, and I wish them every success. My comments are not intended to be deraugatory. Quite the contrary. Most of these Professionally run companies are very well respected and do, in most cases, work quite effectively. If you are facing the Loss of your Drivers License or possibly an increase in Insurance Rates due to Demerit Points, give them a call. In fact, I encourage it because they know a lot more about this subject than me.

They should.....LOL!

They also Deal with other Serious Legal Matters such as DUI, DWI, No Insurance, Undo Care And Attention,  and other Traffic Related charges that I just don't know enough about to act as an Educator. Most local Newspapers or Bus Benches & Yellow Page Directories will guide you to their services. They are Good Honest People, trust me. Use them, especially with Demerit Based Offences and Legal Matters where you are concerned about losing your Driving Privledges and having your Insurance Skyrocket.

Not everyone has the ability or time to do what I have successfully done in the past. It takes a certain "Unique" personality to stand in front of a Judge, Crown Prosecutor, Public Audience and plead your case. This is why I recommend Professional Companies and their services. Your choice though.

I'm Cheap, and a Do It Yourselfer, so while I Encourage their use for yourself maybe, I won't. Part of the reason is I am also much more conscious about my driving habits and try to Obey The Rules Of The Road as best as I can. However, like you, I do get Trapped every now and again. 

These Professional Companies I have written about will charge between $200 and $400 to do what I am going to Teach You in relation to General Demerit Based Traffic Offences such as Speeding. Lately though, they seem more concerned with DUI and more serious Traffic Offences etc. as the payouts are greater. They are Substantially Less Expensive than Hiring a Lawyer. USE THEM!

Be sure to get a clear and definitive answer as to what it is that they are going to do if you do decide to inquire about their services when it comes to Fighting A Speeding Ticket. Go ahead and use them, but know what it is you are paying for.

They Do Not cover Photo Enforced Offences. If you don't believe me, then call them and find out for yourself.
